Summer is a time for keeping cool and staying hydrated. Here are some healthy and fun ideas to add flavour and colour to plain ol’ water, how to make healthy homemade lollipops, and even add a tropical theme to start your day!

Flavoured water recipes

Sparkling Water

  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries and segments of half tangerine
  • 1/2 cup passionfruit seeds & juice and handful fresh mint leaves
  • Mix in water with ice – in a jug or bottle – and enjoy.

Still Water

  • 1/2 cup frozen green/red grapes and fresh mint leaves
  • Slices of lemon/ lime/ ‘lemonade fruit’ or cucumber
  • Mix in water with ice – in a jug or bottle – and enjoy.

Fruit smoothie icy poles

Ingredients
  • 1 large banana
  • 1 punnet of strawberries
  • 1 punnet of blueberries
  • Slices kiwi fruit (to decorate)
Method
  • Mix all ingredients into a blender until smooth.
  • Pour into icy pole moulds – add kiwi fruit – and place into the freezer.
  • Enjoy with friends when even the air con is not enough!

Tropical smoothie

Ingredients
  • ½ cup frozen banana
  • ½ cup frozen pineapple
  • handful spinach
  • handful chopped cucumber
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
Method
  • Blend all ingredients and serve!
  • Good option as a breakfast replacement.
